Cervical discectomy and fusion

The most common treatment for treating neck discomfort, cervical radiculopathy, and myelopathy is anterior discectomy and fusion (ACDF). Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) is a type of neck surgery that involves removing a damaged disc to relieve spinal cord or nerve root pressure and alleviate corresponding pain, weakness, numbness, and tingling, and this disc is removed and replaced with a cage. A discectomy is a form of surgical decompression, so the procedure may also be called an anterior cervical decompression. This procedure is done through the anterior route i.e. an incision at the front of the cervical spine (neck) hence it is known as Anterior Cervical Decompression Fusion.
