Cervical Discectomy and Disc Replacement is carried out to treat a disc prolapse in the neck which is causing spinal cord or nerve root compression. During the procedure the affected or diseased disc is removed through an incision at the anterior side of the neck and replaced with an artificial one, which can be made from variety of materials such as PEEk or metal. This procedure is beneficial in young adults to relieve discomfort and restore range of motion.
